What we collect

This site's contact form and the Roof Estimate tool's lead form ask for your name, phone number, email address, and details about your project — used only to follow up with you about that project. We don't sell this information or share it with anyone outside Hanson Variety Solutions.

The Roof Estimate tool also uses Google's Maps and Places APIs to look up an address you enter and show the satellite map — that lookup happens directly between your browser and Google. The roof measurement itself (Google's Solar API) is routed through our own server rather than called directly from your browser, so it never carries our API key; Google still receives the location you tap, to measure that roof. See Google's own privacy policy for how Google handles that data.

The Cool Things calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type into them — room dimensions, roof pitch, and so on — are never sent to our servers; they stay on your device and disappear when you close the page.

Cookies and site analytics

This site does not currently run third-party analytics or tracking cookies of its own. If that changes, this section will be updated to say so plainly.

Advertising on this site

Some pages on this site — Cool Things, Tools for the Job, the roof estimate tool, and blog posts — show ads served through Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites; see Google's ad policy for how that works. This doesn't affect anything you type into a calculator, which stays in your browser regardless.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
